Whitney Hu | Civic Engagement and Research Director
Whitney Hu is known for her work as the founder of South Brooklyn Mutual Aid which distributed over 40,000 boxes of fresh food across Sunset Park and the surrounding areas, fundraised over $450,000, and has since grown into a cleaning workers collective, free community store, and more this past year. Prior to that, she organized efforts with both Sunset Park ICE Watch which led on-the-ground resistance support against ICE’s presence in NYC and Protect Sunset Park which was a group of community members who organized against Industry City’s private-led rezoning. She previously worked for Council Member Brad Lander and most recently worked on a mayoral campaign.
